We reported last week about the Banner Year for Smolt Counting, best ever on record! IT CONTINUES ON! Here are the latest as of May 22:
Smolts Total = 4,423
Daily Average last week = 104
Fry 222 (Comparison ’25 = 632 ’24 = 1,544 ’23 = 18 ‘’22 = 54)
Cutthroat 15
Sculpins 16
Bullfrogs 24
Crayfish 21
Sticklebacks 2
Smolt morts 12
In previous large count years, smolts were counted nearly every day through to the end of May. If history holds, we should see diminishing numbers over the next 2 weeks. FLASH! After the day’s rain on May 25th, the smolt count in the evening was 511!!!
